located in the heart of Surrey's beautiful heathland
Welcome to Blackheath May Fair 2014!
In addition to our usual stalls and building on the May Day theme we have planned more festivities around the maypole at the crossroads with a team from Tillingbourne School also attending this year in addition to teams from Chilworth infants and Wonersh & Shamley Green. The children will be performing in the 2-2.30pm slot so be sure not to miss them. The 'Fleur de Lys' Morris dancers from Godalming will also be returning for this year's event. In addition to performing their usual routines they will also be having a crack at the maypole.
The fair opens at 2pm and continues until 5pm.
Please refer to the plan of the fair for a rough guide as to where individual stalls are located. Key points though are the Hall, St Martin's Church and the Crossroads. For the first time we have a disabled set down and pick up point situated at the crossroads. Toilets can be found to the left of the Hall garage and at the crossroads whilst there is a cubicle for disabled users in the Ladies WC area at the back of the hall. The Ladies toilet area also has a baby changing fold down table.
Regrettably the village pub remains closed but you will not want for refreshment with food and drink being available at the crossroads, adjacent to the church and the hall. There is a choice of pork baps, burgers or hot dogs together with a selection of English Ales, Pimms, soft drinks, ice cream and ofcourse, cream teas at the village hall.
Our thanks again go to our joint sponsors for the event Pewleys Estate Agents and The Sundial Group which operates the Barnett Hill Conference Centre in the village. Pewleys are now well established in their Shalford base from where they are successfully selling homes in Guildford, Godalming and the surrounding villages.
The village is again very grateful to John and Mary Crittall and the Benedictine monks for providing the two car parking areas that ensure that you only have a short pleasant walk to the event.
Have a great day and remember that, in addition to having fun, every penny you spend will be used to support local community groups and village projects that without your help would not be possible. Thankyou!
