The May Fair
Every year in Blackheath on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May, the fair is held. People from all local areas are welcome to come and join in the fun!
2009 May Day Fair - Monday 4th May At 2pm
Once again, the biggest and best traditional local village fair is taking
place in Blackheath Village on the first summer bank holiday of the year.
We attract huge numbers of visitors with more than 60 stalls spread along the
whole length of our lovely village. In addition to our normal attractions, we
hope to increase the amount of food and drink available this year and if time
permits introduce new events to make this a real family occasion for everyone to
enjoy in the local area.
We are pleased to announce that our sponsors for the event this year are Hart
Brown Solicitors and Barnett Hill Conference Centre.
A large proportion of residents in Blackheath help with the setting up of the
fair and running stalls throughout the afternoon, with all proceeds distributed
to local charities and supporting village organisations for the benefit of the
whole community.
Car parking will again be available from the Wonersh direction in the field
opposite the entrance to Barnet Hill Conference Centre with the kind permission
of John and Mary Crittal. Parking is also from the Chilworth direction at the
Franciscan Friary and we are very grateful for their assistance in providing
this valuable facility. The Car Parking will again be charged at £3 per car
which will enable us to make a donation to the Venture Scouts who ably marshal
the traffic.
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s event, which includes plant and
book stalls, children's games, cream teas, beer tents, raffles, pony rides,
bouncy castle, skittle alley, toss the bale and many, many more, with music and
entertainment throughout the afternoon.
