located in the heart of Surrey's beautiful heathland
Welcome to Blackheath May Fair 2015!
The May fair is to take place from 2-5pm on bank holiday Monday 4th May
Visitors to this year's event are in for a particular treat. Faced with the prospect of having to match the success of last year's 40th anniversary fair the organisers have pulled out all the stops to revise the layout and sustain the interest from one end of the village to the other. All the old favourites are there including the Billy Benson fairground rides, coconut shy, the fishing game, toss the bale and many more with the number of games at the crossroads having been significantly increased.

Teams of children from Chilworth infants, Wonersh & Shamley Green and Tillingbourne will again be opening the event in time honoured fashion by dancing around the maypole. Raising the event to a whole new level however, the organisers are proud to announce that, with over 1M hits on YouTube for their performance of Bolero, 'Stringfever' (in their own words 'the world's first genetically modified quartet') will be entertaining you with a combination of their skilled musicianship and humour that is guaranteed to make it a most enjoyable day for all.
Please refer to the plan of the fair for a rough guide as to where
individual stalls are located. Key points though are the Hall, St Martin's
Church and the Crossroads. Toilets can be found at the village
hall and at the crossroads whilst there is a cubicle for disabled users
in the Ladies WC area at the back of the hall. The Ladies toilet also has a
baby changing fold down table.
There is a set down point for disabled visitors but no parking at the crossroads. Carers should proceed to the car park at the Abbey. The village is again very grateful to Mary Crittall and the Benedictine Abbey for providing the two car parking areas (see map) that ensure that visitors only have a short pleasant walk to the event and to our joint sponsors whose support makes the event possible, Pewleys Estate Agents of Shalford and The Sundial Group which operates the select Barnett Hill Conference Centre in the village.
