Gift Aid Scheme (GAS)

This GAS is registered under the Village Society's Charities Commission number (291875) and is solely for the benefit of the Village Hall.

So far about £15,000 has been raised from donations from villagers, other supporters and reclaimed tax on donations. Some £2000 has been spent on external repairs and improvements to the fire exitways. The rest was accumulated to meet the significant costs of improving the ladies' toilets and cloakroom. These works were completed in 2008, with the fund largely used to finance this improvement.

The fund is now being rebuilt to meet the cost of modernising the mens' toilets and cloakroom, and cyclical external repairs and repainting.

The tax system provides a number of incentives for individuals to give to charity, and the GAS route has proved a most effective method for us.

The GAS enables the charity to reclaim the basic rate of tax on donations from H.M. Revenue & Customs, meaning donations are enhanced in this way. It is inevitable that a few contributors drop out for various reasons, and currently about 25 generous local residents are donating.

More contributors are needed if the village is to keep its Hall in good shape.

The demands of a fine but old building are never-ending, and legislation increasingly adds to funding problems.

If you wish to join the existing contributors, or re-join, then you can make payments(s) to the Blackheath Village Society Charity No. 291875.

You will need to make a Declaration of your donation and tax situation. In the case of regular annual or monthly payments, you will also need to complete a Mandate for Standing Order payments. A form for these purposes is downloadable here

The current Gift Aid Scheme administrator for the Blackheath Village Society and the Blackheath Village Hall Management Committee is:

Brian Monk, 1 Chestnut Corner, Blackheath Lane, Blackheath, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 8RA. Tel: 01483 893795.

Photocopies and emails are not acceptable by H.M. Revenue and Customs, so please mail or drop the form in to Brian.

If you wish to make a one off payment please send a cheque with your Declaration.

Regular payments are most welcome. Perhaps a monthly donation equivalent to a bottle of wine (you know what you pay!)?

So please resolve to make donations now!

Thank you.
