You may have noticed signs on our roads asking for feedback on new proposed speed limits for the lanes around Blackheath. Surrey highways are looking to adopt the speed limit reductions impacting country lanes and smaller roads proposed by government a couple of years ago.
Historically our lanes have been national speed limit roads (60MPH) which included the village itself. Nearly 20 years ago the BVS put up signs requesting that drivers limit themselves to 20MPH through the village. Highways are now proposing 20 MPH speed limits for all of the lanes into the village. It is worth noting that these limits would come with increased official 20mph signage on the lanes and at the entrances to the village
Surrey Highways is inviting comments on these proposed reduction’s to 20 mph on Blackheath, Sampleoak and Littleford Lanes
