A Six Part Series: The Mystery of God
Join us this autumn and winter for a luminous journey into faith at St Augustine’s Abbey, Chilworth. Based on Bishop Robert Barron’s acclaimed series, “The Mystery of God: Who God Is and Why He Matters” unfolds in six Saturday morning sessions, continuing on 11 October 2025 through February 2026. Under the gentle guidance of Fr John Seddon OSB, participants will explore profound topics from atheism and the nature of divinity to the Trinity and God as Love. Continuing on 25 October 2025 and through March 2026, embark on “Indigenous Spirituality: A Global Exploration”, a six month journey into ancient wisdom traditions from around the world. Guided by Sheila Longman, each session opens a different continent’s spiritual heritage from Ubuntu in Africa to Aboriginal lore, Native American traditions, Andean culture, and the spiritual paths of early Britain. Held on selected Saturday mornings in the peaceful abbey setting, these gatherings invite you to rediscover the sacredness woven into every human story. A.E. Housman: Scholar, Poet, Enigma
On Thursday 20 November 2025, Abbot Rt Rev Dom Paulinus Greenwood OSB invites you into the enigmatic world of A.E. Housman in “A.E. Housman: Scholar, Poet, Enigma.” Through poetic recitation and scholarly insight, the evening will shed new light on Housman’s brilliant, melancholic sensibility and classical scholarship. The event runs 7pm–8.20 p.m. in the Assisi Room, followed by the Divine Office of Compline in Gregorian Chant (optional) in the Abbey Church.
