Florence Drewitt (Blackheath Farm) won a silver medal this weekend (19/20 July 2025) competing as a member of the British Eventing Team at the European Championships at Le Mans.  She was riding an 8yr old pony on which you will see her in the village and on Blackheath. Well done Florence from everyone in Blackheath Village.

The Blackheath Village Society are pleased to report that the net proceeds from this year's fair held on the May Day Bank Holiday amounts to £7,600.00.


We have already allocated the following donations to these local charities and organisations from the net proceeds:


St Augustine’s Abbey £500

Wonersh and Shamley Green School £500

Wonersh Scouts £100

The Cricket Club £500

The Village Hall £500

St Martin's Church £200


A separate BVS Finance Committee has been established to receive presentations for the submission for projects that will benefit the local community.

The Benedictine monastery of St Augustine’s Abbey, Chilworth near Guildford is hosting a rich series of public events this autumn blending faith, wisdom and the arts.


On the morning of Saturday 6 September 2025, a six month reflective series begins on The Spirit of Indigenous Wisdom, exploring Aboriginal and Christian insights through story, silence and nature. On the morning of Saturday 13 September 2025, Benedictine monk Fr John Seddon OSB starts his monthly presentation of Bishop Robert Barron’s series The Mystery of God, tackling atheism, the paths to God and The Trinity.


And on the evening of Thursday 25 September 2025, the Abbey hosts Mysteries of the Metaphysicals, an evening of sacred poetry, music and reflection.


All are welcome. Ticket prices are £10 per person per session. Attend as many as you like. Advance booking essential. All proceeds support the monastery - thank you.
